Kenwood R5000 Reciever

This Kenwood R 5000 was purchased new in 1998 by my neighbour’s late husband. He used it frequently for a few years then less and less until his death one year ago.

I have set the radio up at my station. All functions work as far as I can tell. When the AF/RFknob is turned a humming and crackling sound occurs. This disappears when I let go of the control.

Cosmetically the radio is in good condition. I have the owners manual and a large fold out schematic. My neighbour could not find th original box.
